Under the chassis and axles – that's where the real work happens.

Most people look at the engine and tank first. But guys who actually run water trucks in mines and on dirt roads? They'll tell you: what keeps you moving is the chassis and axle setup.

This Howo 8x4 water truck has two HF9 steer axles up front – 9,000 kg each – and two HC16 rears, 16,000 kg each. Pressed housings, hub reduction. The frame is a parallel ladder, U-profile: 300x80x8 mm sections, cold-riveted cross members, plus a reinforced subframe.

Front suspension: 10-leaf semi-elliptic springs, twin-action hydraulic shocks, and a stabilizer. Rear: 12-leaf semi-elliptic with bogie springs. That combo keeps your wheels on the ground instead of bouncing like crazy over washboard ruts.

And the diff locks – between wheels and between axles – mean if one corner loses grip, you don't stop. You just keep pulling that 25,000 liters of water forward.

Pump and plumbing – where the job actually happens

A full tank doesn't mean much if you can't get the water where you need it. The pump on this Howo water bowser is a self-priming centrifugal unit, driven by a PTO off the transmission – no separate engine, no extra fuel tank to mess with.

The manifold feeds into a row of stainless steel ball valves: seven 50mm ones plus a 65mm fire-rated port. You get a front duckbill nozzle for street flushing, a rear cylindrical spreader for even coverage, side spray lotus heads for the kerb, and a rear cannon that spins 360° – adjust it from a solid jet (35+ meters) all the way down to a fine mist.

Flip a few valves and the same pump can draw from hydrants or open water. This isn't just a sprinkler. It's a mobile water distribution system.
