How Do You Maintain a Used Truck?

On a used truck, tires and brakes are where you don't cut corners. If the tread is shallow or wearing unevenly, replace them - cheap tires get expensive on a long haul. Check the pads, drums, air-line seals and ABS, and don't ignore it on heavy tankers and mixers, where stopping takes longer.

The hydraulic system deserves the same attention. On dump trucks and hydraulic semi-trailers, the lifting cylinders and hoses fail most often, so watch the oil level and color and fix any leak the day you find it. And keep a simple notebook - every oil change, filter and repair, what was replaced and what it cost. It tells you when to keep the truck and when to let it go, and it makes the truck easier to sell later.

A used truck serves you well only if you care for it - roughly a third is the machine, the rest is the owner. If you're sourcing used dump trucks, tractor heads, fuel tankers, mixers, semi-trailers or construction machinery, reach out to us.
